Stainless Steel – material and maintenance

We are referring to the need for maintaining stainless steel products.

Our stainless steel products with high gloss polished surfaces and polished welded seams are not immune from existing environmental influences despite careful and premium selection of material.

In view of the term “stainless steel” there is great uncertainty. The terms stainless steel, chrome, V2A, V4A, niro etc. are often jumbled. There is also the opinion that stainless steel is basically anti-magnetic and cannot rust. This assertion does not always apply because the most diverse alloys are used depending on the area of application.

Despite every care in processing we cannot avoid that e.g. in the front brackets the welded seams are particularly at risk due to surface tensions of the material in this area and through external damaging.

Regular maintenance, however, lessens the risk considerably and guarantees optimal conservation of value and visual appearance in the long run. If this does not happen, blind spots can result - in extreme cases even rust formation on the surface.

Should small corrosion spots occur once, it is mostly a case of so-called “rust film” which affects the part. This exists, if other metal particles (e.g. metal particle from exhaust pipe or brakes) are fixed on the stainless steel and "eat through" (corrode) slowly. Insufficient maintenance accelerates this process.

These surface damages can be removed with a polish or a fine abrasive.

We expressly point out that our guarantee only applies if this maintenance was demonstrably carried out!

For stainless steel maintenance we recommend the Durosol product : ยท Autosol Edelstahl Chromglanz (stainless steel chrome gloss) /metal poli

“Autosol Chromglanz 1000” (chrome gloss) is especially suited for reconditioning faded, matt stainless steel and removing rust film of stainless steel surfaces (small brown spots). Furthermore “Autosol Chromglanz” insulates and conserves the stainless steel surfaces after application.

Application process:
-clean/wash part surfaces (surfaces must be free from dust, road dirt and earth) apply a thin layer of “Autosol Chromglanz” on the surface – area approx. 200x200mm – afterwards rub/polish the paste in circular motion using a soft cloth with light pressure, then repeat the 3-5 x.

Attention: “Dursol Chromglanz” must be kept out of reach of children!
